speaking with haruki murakami’s words, the suuns make you feel, that the storm of reality comes hovering closer and closer, then retreating again into the distance (cf. 1Q84, p. 53). listening to music is comfort. but new music has to be born outside of the comfort zone, it’s never born from comfortable circumstances (cf. p. 25). it’s more than an expression, it’s a confirmation of existance, the mere concept of being and remembering. like tengo said: “our memory is made up of our own individual memories and our collective memories. the two are intimately linked.” (p. 322) so what’s music history made of, individual or collective memory?
